The MCP server connects ChatGPT, Claude and other AI assistants directly to your PIM. PIM Studio handles product data tasks from research to import.

For years, manufacturers and retailers have maintained product data in forms, spreadsheets and approval loops. In the future, they will assign part of this work to an AI assistant. Today we launch two new building blocks for this: the MCP server and PIM Studio.
AI assistants answer questions about products only as well as the data they can access. Without a connection to the PIM, every answer remains a guess.
The Model Context Protocol (MCP) is an open standard that lets AI assistants use the tools of an application. The ainavio MCP server provides these tools for product data.
An AI assistant reads and changes products, categories and attributes in the PIM. It checks drafts, exports products with a download link directly in the chat and retrieves reports.
You open a session, describe the task and let AI agents do the work. From a list of product names, a CSV or Excel file or products from the PIM, researched, checked and imported products emerge. If a detail is unclear, the system asks a targeted question.
An A/B test at Gorilla Sports shows what well-prepared product data can achieve. The enriched variant with rich content, a long description and a product video scored higher on conversion rate at +42.2 % and on add-to-cart rate at +56.9 %. This example concerns product content, not the MCP server.
“Product data is no longer maintained. You delegate it and check the result.”
Lorenz Schneidmadel, CEO and co-founder of ainavio GmbH
Conclusion: The MCP server connects AI assistants with the PIM, and PIM Studio takes on larger product data tasks. Maintenance becomes delegation, in which people check and approve the result.
