Gorilla Sports (Global Sports Group) operates several international Shopify country stores. Complex metafield structures, multilingual content and many images/assets come together. Up to now, product data and media have been maintained, checked and distributed for each shop. Gorilla Sports introduced ainavio PIM as a central database for the international Shopify setup with several country shops. It was important to standardize processes and automatically display content to all country shops.

Sector: fitness equipment and sporting goods (weight training, cardio, home gym)
Company size: 51-200 employees (part of the Global Sports Group with approx. 350 employees worldwide)
Sales channels: Online shops in 22 countries (Germany, Switzerland, France, England, Poland, Austria, Sweden, Slovakia, Finland, etc.), e-commerce
Gorilla Sports operates an international Shopify landscape with nine independent country shops as well as other shops within the Global Sports Group. With the increasing number of shops, multilingual content and extensive media, the effort required to maintain and distribute product information grew noticeably. Many work steps took place in parallel in the individual shops. This extended voting and made it difficult to keep track of approvals and current content.
At the same time, product presentation requirements increased. Metafields and predefined content modules had to be consistently maintained and kept up to date per country shop. In order to clearly prioritize the central problem areas, a uniform structure and clear processes for data quality, content and distribution were needed.

Redundant data maintenance
Product data had to be maintained separately for each country shop, which increased manual effort and sources of error.
Manual distribution slows down launches
Content was played manually for each shop, which delayed market launches and created coordination loops.
Decentralized asset management
Images and assets were maintained without a central media library, which increased maintenance time and costs
Consistency across languages
Changes had to be maintained individually in each shop and in each language, meaning that content was often up to date differently for each shop and language.
Gorilla Sports wanted to build a central database for product data, images/assets and metafields with ainavio PIM. Content should be maintained and approved there using defined workflows and then automatically transferred to all Shopify country shops. Predefined HTML components should speed up product launches, while clear rules for metafields and multilingualism keep data quality stable across all markets.
1. Central administration of product information, media and HTML components
Product data, images/assets, metafields and HTML building blocks should be maintained centrally, as a basis for all 9+ Shopify stores and other channels in the group.
2. Significantly less manual effort due to automatic distribution
Product data, media, and multilingual and country-specific content should be automatically transferred to all country shops to reduce redundant maintenance and manual distribution.
3. Easier maintenance across languages and country shops
Multilingual content, country-specific adjustments, and complex metafields and HTML components should be maintained in a structured manner to ensure data quality and consistency.

With ainavio PIM, Gorilla Sports has centrally organized product data management for its international Shopify setup. Product data, images/assets, HTML components and complex metafields are maintained in a common database and controlled via defined workflows. This reduces duplication of work, reduces the error rate in maintenance and creates consistent data quality across languages and country shops. Teams gain transparency because status and approvals are easier to understand and focus more on content rather than manual distribution.
Automated distribution in country shops noticeably speeds up launches and relieves the workload, particularly when it comes to recurring content modules. The central media library also simplifies asset maintenance and supports local adjustment without setting up new processes. This creates a reliable basis for connecting other Group brands and additional channels in a structured manner. As a next step, Gorilla Sports plans to integrate other group brands into PIM and expand translation workflows with intelligent suggestions for country-specific adjustments.
